Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO - Cleveland Force President and General Manager Paul Garofolo today announced that the team has signed forward Aaron Susi (Sue-C) for the remainder of the season plus an option year as well as activated long time Force goalkeeper Otto Orf and signed him to a five game or 15-day contract. The Force also placed midfielder Myles Stoddard on the injured reserve list.
Orf was signed to the five game/15-day contract due to goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin breaking his finger in Cleveland's 6-5 overtime victory over the Kansas City Comets on Saturday night. Elfvin, who recorded his second career win on Saturday, is expected to miss two to three weeks of action.
"Aaron provides us with additional veteran leadership, scoring ability and another much needed left footed shooter for our team. Otto provides us with the comfort level that in the event we need another keeper we have one of the finest to ever play the game on our bench and ready if called upon," stated Garofolo.
Susi, a 30-year old native of San Diego, started the season with the St. Louis Steamers before being waived. Aaron appeared in 18 games this season for the Steamers and tallied 11 goals and added two assists for a total of 13 points. In addition to playing for the Steamers, Susi has played for the Arizona Sandsharks of the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL), the St. Louis Ambush of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL), the Wichita Wings (NPSL) and the San Diego Sockers both in the World Indoor Soccer League (WISL) and the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). He attended San Diego State University where he led the team in goals, assists, and total points his sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Orf, a three-time World Champion and a four time All-Star selection, will start his 21st season of indoor soccer this weekend. Otto has appeared in 481 career games and is the all-time leader in points scored by a net minder with 129. He has posted a record of 246-192 (.561) and has had 20 plus wins in a season on seven occasions. Orf is the all-time leader in assists with 111 and is second all-time in playoff history in wins (44), shots faced (1,754) and saves (1,247).
Stoddard, who has missed the last nine games with a knee injury, underwent successful surgery performed by Dr. Donald Goodfellow at University Hospitals on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus. Myles, who is expected to miss four to six weeks of action, appeared in 11 games and notched four goals and five blocks this season.
