Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Sioux Falls, SD (February 4, 2006) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce lost to the Yakama Sun Kings tonight 120-110 (6, 1) to drop to 19-16 on the season. The Sun Kings played with a lot more passion after the blowout loss two nights earlier and finished the regular season 3-3 at the Sioux Falls Arena. The real winners were the military personnel in attendance and the fans who purchased raffle tickets to help the Skyforce raise over $1,100 for their "Operation Opening Doors" foundation. Yakama improved to 20-12 and currently leads the Western Conference with a 3.9 quarter-points average.

With a big crowd and coming off a blowout victory over the Sun Kings, the stage was set for the ‘Force to win and take over first place in the Western Conference standings. The Sun Kings had other plans though as they came out clicking on all cylinders and quickly built a double-digit (12-2) lead three minutes into the game. They would lead by as many as 12 points (18-6) in the opening quarter before the ‘Force finally made a run. The ‘Force outscored the Sun Kings 29-10 the rest of the quarter and won the first quarter 35-28 behind 16 points from Billy Thomas. Yakama chipped away at the lead and would go into halftime leading 62-60. The Sun Kings won the second quarter 34-25 behind seven points from Antwain Barbour. The Sun Kings came out with some intensity in the second half and pushed the lead to 16 points (84-68) with under 6:00 remaining in the third quarter. The ‘Force responded and cut the lead to one point on two occasions in the final minutes but trailed going into the final quarter 90-87 as the Sun Kings also won the third quarter 28-27 on a late free throw from Anthony Goldwire. The ‘Force would again get within one point (92-91) early in the final stanza but that would be as close as they would get as Yakama seemed to make all the big plays and won the final quarter 30-23 en route to their third victory in Sioux Falls this season.

The Skyforce's next game is on Friday, February 10th, at home against the Rockford Lightning. Tip-off is set for 7:05 pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.

Game Highlights:

SKYFORCE: Billy Thomas 24 points, 7-for-9 three-pointers

Chris Owens 20 points, 15 rebounds

SUN KINGS: Leonard White 17 points, 11 rebounds
