Force Kicks Past MISL Leaders For Season-Best Third Straight Win

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force played host and was defeated the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) leading Philadelphia KiXX by a final score of 8-2 at the Wolstein Convocation Center.

With the victory, the Force won their season-high third straight game while improving to 11-12 overall, 3-3 in the season series, 24-42 all-time versus Philadelphia teams and 6-6 at home. With the loss, the KiXX dropped their third straight game and fell to 16-11 overall and 7-7 on the road.

Cleveland opened the scoring (1-0) when defender Ryan Hall scored his first career MISL on the restart pass from defender Genoni Martinez at 6:32 of the first quarter. With the assist, Martinez recorded his 800th career point. Philadelphia tied the game (1-1) and snapped a scoreless streak of 119 minutes dating back to the second quarter of Wednesday's game when forward Daniel Antoniuk found the back of the net off the cross that came off the boards from defender Pat Morris at 14:53.

The Force wasted no time regaining the lead (2-1) when midfielder Robbie Aristodemo stole the ball at the yellow line and found a streaking defender and team captain John Ball at the back post who knocked the ball in for the score just 57 seconds into the second quarter. Cleveland added to their lead (3-1) when Martinez took the pass from forward Chris Handsor off the boards and put it right between KiXX goalkeeper Stuart Dobson's legs at 4:09. The Force kept things rolling (4-1) when midfielder Kyt Selaidopoulos buried a shot just under the cross bar off the second assist for Handsor at 4:39. Philadelphia snapped a 3-0 run by Cleveland (4-2) when Jeremy Aldrich hit a shot to the back post off the cross from Don D'Ambra at 5:02. The Force once again took a three goal lead (5-2) when Handsor tapped in the cross from Martinez at 7:50. The goal was the third point of the game for Handsor as well as his 500th career point.

Cleveland opened the second half scoring (6-2) when defender Matt Johnson set low liner past Dobson for the score off the third assist of the game for Martinez. The third assist for Martinez tied a season-high for assists in a game and also marked a season-best tying for points in a game with four.

The Force added to their lead (7-2) and opened the final period scoring when forward Aaron Susi hit a nifty volley shot into the far corner off the assist from Ball at 6:06. Cleveland put the game away (8-2) when Ball tapped in his second goal off the third assist for Handsor at 13:53. The third assist for Handsor tied a season-high for assists in a game and also marked a season-best tying for points in a game with four.

The Force will hit the road for the first game of back-to-back weekend contests when they travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the KiXX on Saturday, February 26.
