Force kicks off 2004-05 season at home

CLEVELAND, OHIO - - The Cleveland Force will begin the 2004-05 season this Saturday, October 23 when the team plays host to the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Eastern Division rival Philadelphia KiXX at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.

The action can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM or WHKW 1440 AM in Warren/Youngstown or live worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com as Al Pawlowski will handle the play by duties all season long. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 p.m.

Last season, the KiXX won the season series with a record of 5-1 against the Force. Cleveland posted its lone victory of the season on March 19 by a final score of 8-3 at the Convocation Center

Philadelphia outscored the Force 31-23 in the six meetings but Cleveland outscored the KiXX 11-8 in the final two meetings. The Force out shot Philadelphia 192 to 169 while the KiXX tallied 102 saves to 82 for Cleveland. The Force held the advantage on the power play connecting on 2-5 (.400) while Philadelphia was 2-7 (.286) on the man advantage.

Midfielder Myles Stoddard and forward Adauto Neto, who will miss the first game of the season while recovering from an injury suffered during the A-League season, are the top-returning scorers versus Philadelphia with four points apiece. Forward Joel Shanker who recorded six points in five games last season led the KiXX in the season series.
