Force Goalie Has Strong Weekend
May 24, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO- Force goalkeeper Jim Larkin began his A-League season with the Milwaukee Wave United this past weekend with two thrilling games versus the defending Western Division Champion Minnesota Thunder. The two games between the Wave United and Thunder would determine who would advance to the U.S. Open Cup.
In the first game on Friday night at James Griffin Stadium, Minnesota posted a hard-fought 1-0 victory in overtime. Larkin despite dropping his first decision of the season recorded five saves in the match. Saturday's rematch was the home opener for the Wave United, as poor weather conditions came into effect last weekend and delayed the opener until Saturday night. Jim came up big in the game as he recorded his first shutout of the season and the 24th of his career as the two teams battled to a scoreless 0-0 tie after two overtime periods.
This past season for the Force, Larkin appeared in 28 games and finished with a record of 11-15 overall. Jim finished second in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) in save percentage with .754, fifth in goals allowed with a 5.03 average and fifth in saves with 386.
Larkin and the Wave United will hit the road, as the team will take on the Seattle Sounders and the Portland Timbers on Friday, May 29 and Saturday May 30. The games are scheduled to begin at 10:05 p.m.
