Force falls to two-time defending champs, 7-6

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Cleveland Force played host to and was defeated by the two-time defending Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Champion Baltimore Blast by a final score of 7-6 at the Wolstein Convocation Center. Cleveland was led by forward Adauto Neto with two goals giving him13 goals on the season.

With the loss, Force fell to 18-16 overall, 10-8 home, 3-4 in the season series and 66-70 all-time versus Baltimore teams. With the victory, the Blast improved to 15-19 overall and 6-10 on the road.

Baltimore opened the scoring (0-1) when defender Billy Nelson stole the ball just in front on the Cleveland yellow line and went down field and hit a shot between Force goalkeeper Jim Larkin's legs for the score at 7:51 of the first quarter. The Blast added to their lead (0-2) when forward Lee Tschantret connected on the shootout for the power play goal at 9:48. Cleveland cut into the lead (1-2) when defender Genoni Martinez hit the restart shot that deflected off Baltimore defender Wendell Regis into the back of the net at 11:06. The Force tied the game (2-2) just 14 seconds later when forward Antonio Sutton hit a perfect ball across the goal area and midfielder Robbie Aristodemo hit a sliding shot in for the tying tally at 11:20.

The Blast regained the lead (2-3) when forward David Bascome took the ball at midfield and raced down the field and hit a low liner that hit the far post and bounced in for the score at 8:20 of the second quarter. Baltimore added to its lead (2-4) when Bascome connected on the power play for his second goal of the game on the restart pass from defender Danny Kelly at 10:35.

The Blast opened the second half scoring (2-5) when defender Nate Houser hit a shot that bounced off a Force player into the back of the net at 1:52 of the third quarter. Cleveland cut into the lead (3-5) when defender Neil Gilbert scored his first goal with the Force on the power play off the assist from Martinez at 5:37. Cleveland cut the lead to one (4-5) when forward Adauto Neto connected on the power play off the cross from forward John Ball at 6:27. The Force tied the game for the second time (5-5) when forward Antonio Sutton ran down the middle of the field and hit a shot that went just under the cross bar for the tying goa
