
Force Falls To First Place Wave, 5-2

CLEVELAND, OHIO - The Cleveland Force played host and was defeated by the first place Milwaukee Wave by a final score of 5-2 at the Wolstein Convocation Center.
With the loss, Force fell to 17-15 overall, 10-8 home, 1-2 in the season series and 19-28 all-time versus Milwaukee teams. With the victory, the Wave improved to 21-12 overall and 8-8 on the road.
Milwaukee opened the scoring (0-1) when MISL leading scorer and forward Greg Howes nailed a low liner into the far post off the feed from midfielder Marcelo Fontana at 14:02 of the first quarter.
Cleveland evened the score (1-1) when forward Antonio Sutton took the pass from forward Chris Handsor and buried the shot just 10 seconds into the second quarter. The Wave regained the lead (1-2) when midfielder Matt Schmidt stole the ball and went the length of the field and buried the shot from beyond the old three-point arch at 12:33. Milwaukee took the largest lead of the half (1- 3) when defender Lovelace Ackah nailed the shot off the cross from Howes at 13:08.
The Force cut into the lead (2-3) when midfielder Gary DePalma stole the ball and scored the unassisted goal just 29 seconds into the third quarter. The Wave responded (2-4) when Ackah scored his second goal of the game as the attempted Cleveland clear went right to Lovelace and he buried the shot at 4:00. Milwaukee kept up the scoring attack (2-5) when Howes tallied his second goal of the game as the ball bounced off two Force defenders right to his feet and he netted the score at 6:56.
The two teams battled to a scoreless fourth quarter.
The Force next travel to the Show Me State to take on the Kansas City Comets in the first of three games next week on Thursday, April 7th. The game can be heard live on WHK 1420 AM in Cleveland as well as 1440 AM WHKW in Warren/Youngstown or worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com starting at 8:05 p.m. with the pre-game show hosted by Ed "Doc" Daugherty slated for 7:35 p.m.
