
Force Defender Earns MISL Monthly Honor

CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force defender Hector Marinaro has been named the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Defensive Player of the Month for month of October.
A move to defense has not slowed the game's all-time leading scorer, as Hector Marinaro wins the MISL's defensive honors for October. In three games during the month, Marinaro scored a goal, recorded two assists, and blocked nine shots in helping the Force to a 2-1 record (3-1 overall). The award marks a full-circle transition for Marinaro, who began his indoor career in 1983 as a defender.
The 38-year-old is the sport's all-time leader in goals with 1,202 and has recorded 687 assists and 475 blocks in 661 games over the course of his career. Marinaro stands as this League's all-time leader in goals (924) and points (2,304) and has also recorded 517 assists in 379 games. A six-time Most Valuable Player, Marinaro has scored 100 goals in a season four times and registered seven seasons of 200 or more points. The native of Toronto has been named the League's Offensive Player of the Week a record 27 times. Marinaro is currently tied for third in the MISL with 11 blocks.
Cleveland will travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to take on the MISL Eastern Division Philadelphia KiXX on Saturday, November 8 at the Wachovia Spectrum. The game can be heard live on WKNR 850 at 7:05 p.m.
