Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force All-Star forward Hector Marinaro has been named Technical Director as announced today by President and General Manager Paul Garofolo.
"Hector was a natural choice to help Andy Schmetzer. Their history together as players have them on the same ideological path when it comes to the game. We believe Hector's commitment to helping Andy can only have positive results," commented Garofolo.
Marinaro, the all-time leading scorer in indoor soccer history with 2,723 points, is in his 15th season in a Cleveland uniform. Marinaro began his career in Cleveland with the original Force in the 1983-84 season and has spent the last 13 seasons as member of the current franchise. Hector is a 10-time first-team All-Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) selection, six-time MISL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award winner, 13-time All-Star selection and a 10-time team MVP honoree.
"I would like to thank Dick, Paul and especially Andy for this opportunity. This is the next natural step in the progression of my career and a direction that I want to consider when my playing days are over. I look forward to helping Andy in our efforts to return to prominence, and the younger players in their continued development," stated Marinaro on being named Technical Director.
The Cleveland Force will be in action tomorrow night Saturday, November 16th when it travels to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to face the Philadelphia KiXX at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard live in Cleveland on WHK 1220 AM and in Warren on WHKW 1440 AM or worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com.
