Georgia Force News Release

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA - The Georgia Force announced today that they have acquired OL/DL Mike Sutton from the Columbus Destroyers in exchange for QB Matt Nagy.

Sutton, 6-4, 285 pounds, collared 17 tackles, four passes defensed, one fumble recovery and a sack last year for the Destroyers in 16 games played. A four-year AFL veteran, he has recorded 52 tackles, five sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and four passes defensed in 46 career games. In 2004 with the Indiana Firebirds, Sutton registered a career-high in tackles (20), sacks (three), tackles for a loss (three) and forced fumbles (three). Sutton prepped at Louisiana State University, where he tallied 80 tackles, 10.0 sacks and three fumble recoveries, while playing defensive end for four seasons. He will team with Force pass rushing specialist Jermaine Smith to create disruption in opponents' back fields in 2007.

Director of Football Operations Jim Kubiak is eager to have Sutton in a Force uniform.

"We are very excited about Mike Sutton joining the Force. He is a talented pass rusher that plays with passion and has a knack for making things happen. The bottom line is that Mike will make our football team better the moment he walks into the locker room. He brings the character, leadership and winning attitude that the Georgia Force organization is looking for."

Nagy has spent the previous two seasons with Georgia, helping the team reach the playoffs both seasons. In 2006, Nagy threw for 4,265 yards, 85 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, en route to his best season as an AFL quarterback. Before joining the Force, Nagy spent two seasons with the New York Dragons (2002-03) and a year with the Carolina Cobras (2004).
