Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO- Cleveland Force President and General Manager Paul Garofolo today announced that the team has traded for forward Brian Soell (Sell) and defender Matt Tanzini (Tan-Zeen-nee) from the Kansas City Comets in exchange for a player to be named later.
"Brian is an MISL veteran who we believe is ready to develop into a strong and consistent player for a long time in the league. Brian and Matt also help to solve our shortage of left footed players on this team. We don't anticipate however that Matt will join us until sometime in January due to personal commitments outside the game," stated Garofolo.
Soell, a 25-year old native of St. Louis, Missouri, has played the past two seasons for the Comets. Brian appeared in 35 games last season and notched career-highs in goals (12), assists (10) and points (22). In addition, he recorded a career-best 31 blocks. Soell garnered his first Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Offensive Player of the Week honor on October 20, 2003. In addition, Brian played for the U.S. National Futsal team this past summer.
Brian attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) and was selected first-team the All-Mid-Continent Conference as well as the All-Midwest Team.
Tanzini, a 28-year old native of Binghamton, New York, played just one season in Kansas City after being acquired by the Comets in the Harrisburg Heat dispersal draft. Matt appeared in 34 games last season and recorded 13 goals and added 11 assists for a total of 24 points. In addition, he added a career-high 37 blocks. In addition to playing for the Comets and Heat, Tanzini has played for the Buffalo Blizzard as well as the U.S. National Futsal team.
Matt won back-to-back junior college national titles while attending Herkimer (NY) Community College. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences from West Virginia University.
