October 13, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO - Cleveland Force President and General Manager Paul Garofolo today announced the team has acquired the rights to All-Star defender Wendell Regis from the Baltimore Blast in exchange for a fourth round draft pick in the 2004-05 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Amateur Draft. Regis then signed a one-year plus an option year contract. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Wendell will fill a defensive need for our team. His experience in this League we felt was an important asset that we needed on our back line. In addition, the knowledge of what it takes to win a championship acquired with Wendell and Chris Handsor will prove invaluable to our team," stated Garofolo.
Regis, a 34-year old native of Trinidad, has spent the last two seasons with the Baltimore Blast and was a part of two MISL Championships. In his two seasons in Baltimore, Regis notched five goals and added three assists for a total of eight points while recording 78 blocks. He was named to the MISL International All-Star team last season. Wendell has also played for the Harrisburg Heat.
In addition to his MISL career, Regis has played for the Hershey Wildcats in the A-League. Wendell was a member of the Trinidadian Under-23 Olympic Qualifying Team. He is a graduate of Howard University.
