
Foothills Stadium Hosts MLB Pitch, Hit and Run

Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run (PHR) is a FREE, 1-day event for boys and girls ages 7-14 and it is coming to Calgary.
This fun event is courtesy of the Calgary Vipers, Calgary Redbirds, Absolute Baseball Academy and Pro Baseball Force and will be held 10:00AM to 1:00PM at Foothills Stadium on Saturday May 14th, PHR is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball and is open to anyone interested in baseball, even if you don't play on a team. "It's a fun day for the kids", said Viper President John Conrad. "We are happy to open the stadium for the day so everyone can have a chance to play on the Vipers home field."
Boys and girls compete separately and participants have the opportunity to compete in four levels of competition including Locals, Sectionals, and Team Championships and have a chance to move onto the National Finals at the MLB All-Star Game.
Below is a brief summary of the PHR program:
LEVELS OF COMPETITION
. Local Competition - March 1 - Early/Mid May
o All-Around, Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions advance from EACH age and gender group.
. Sectional Competition - Mid May-Early June**
o Each Sectional is part of an MLB team's geographic market.
o All-Around Champions in each age and gender group are ELIGIBLE to advance.
o The top 3 scores in each age and gender group among the Sectional All Around Champions within each MLB geographic market will advance to the Team Championships.***
. MLB Team Championship - June (weekends)
o Held in all 30 Major League Ballparks.
o Participants must place first in their age group to be ELIGIBLE to advance. The top 3 scores in each age and gender group out of all 30 MLB Team Championships will advance to the National Finals.***
. National Finals - MLB All-Star Week
o National Finalists will receive an all-expense paid trip to the All-Star Game. Finalists will participate in an array of festivities upon arrival, including a PHR Welcome Reception, MLB Brunch and All-Star FanFest. Finalists will compete on-field prior to shagging fly balls during the Home Run Derby and attending the All- Star Game!
