
Fontenot Leads Keys To Extra Innings Victory

The Frederick Keys (24-36, 41-87) came away with a 5-4 win over the Salem Avalanche in 11 innings at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium, thanks to a game-winning double by 2B Mike Fontenot.
With two runners on and two out in the 11th inning, Fontenot drove in his third run of the evening to cap off a 2-for-6 performance. Fontenot started the Keys' four-run 3rd inning with a two-run homer to tie the game at 2-2. It was his team-leading eighth home run of the year.
RHP Enrique Ramirez (3-4) threw three shutout innings to earn the victory. Ramirez did not allow any hits while striking out three.
IF Kris Wilken gave the Keys a 3-2 lead with an RBI single in the Keys' four-run 3rd inning. Wilken finished the night 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, extending his hitting streak to eight games. IF Eric Shanks grounded out to the shortstop with runners on 2nd and 3rd and one out to give the Keys a 4-2 advantage.
Salem tied the game with a two-run homer by OF Jorge Piedra in the 6th inning, his 9th of the year and 2nd of the night, off RHP Jancy Andrade.
RHP Jancy Andrade went 6.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned runs) on five hits. LHP Jason Cierlik threw 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit.
OF Mamon Tucker also provided offensive support with a three-hit night and OF Cory Keylor went 2-for-6 with a run scored.
The Keys continue their three-game series against the Avalanche on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The Keys' starter for tomorrow night remains TBA, while the offense will have its hands full with Salem's RHP Kip Bouknight (13-7, 3.46). Bouknight threw a no-hitter in his last outing against the Keys on August 7.
