Flying Tigers Drop Miracle, 9-4, on Sunday

FORT MYERS, FL - The Lakeland Flying Tigers scored five runs before five outs were recorded in the first two innings, sending 16 hitters to the plate, en route to a 9-4 victory over the Fort Myers Miracle at Hammond Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Flying Tigers starter Shawn Teufel was staked to an early lead and allowed just two runs in seven innings of work. Anderson Hidalgo picked up his fifth and sixth RBIs of the series with a two-run double in the fifth inning, but the Miracle were trailing by seven runs heading into the inning.

In the ninth inning, the Miracle tacked on a pair of runs with a run-scoring triple from Josmil Pinto and a RBI groundout from Nick Romero. Pinto finished 2-for-3 and also scored a run.

Fort Myers starter Jhon Garcia (3-5) lasted 1.2 innings before leaving the ballgame with an injury. Teufel (3-3) picked up the win for the Flying Tigers. Clint Dempster and Matt Hauser appeared in relief for the Miracle. Dempster pitched three innings and gave up two runs and Hauser pitched a perfect final two.

The Miracle (49-58, 15-22) will wrap up an eight game homestand in the final meeting with Lakeland (51-54, 15-20) of the season at Hammond Stadium on Monday night.
