Lakeland Flying Tigers News Release
Lakeland, FL - The Lakeland Flying Tigers are partnering with KidPack and Hall Communications for Pack the Park at Joker Marchant Stadium. KidPack raises food and money to supply Kidpacks to students in Polk County that do not know where their next meal will come from, as well as to those kids that are homeless and without proper nutrition. The schools in the area identify these kids, who remain nameless to KidPack, then in turn they get the packs to the schools on Friday's so the child has food to last them over the weekend when school meals are not accessible. There are thousands of kids here locally that are in need.
The Flying Tigers and KidPack will be collecting non perishable food and donations to support KidPack. The goal for "Pack the Park" is to raise $50,000 or 36,000 lbs of food. 100% of all food and money raised goes directly to the cause. Tickets are available through KidPack for $8. Every ticket sold feeds one kid for a weekend. Tickets are good to any of the games between June 23 - 27 and are available by calling 863-272-7927.
To kick off the event, Flying Tigers Group Sales Manger Dan Lauer will camp out on the berm at Marchant Stadium June 23-27 eating only kidpacks. These are the same packs that kids receive for their meals. Throughout Dan's stay on the berm, he will be doing live call ins to the radio stations and constantly updating the days events on the events Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/FlyingTigersPackthePark.
KidPack will be holding a food drive at the stadium Sunday, June 24 through Wednesday, June 27 from 7:30 - 10 a.m. There will be free coffee and doughnuts outside the 3rd base gate at Marchant Stadium as well as bounce houses donated by Lakeland Moon Walk. Everyday of the week there will be something special going on including a live Christian music concert on Sunday from 5:15 - 6:30 p.m. There will be a live demonstration by the Polk County Sheriffs K-9 Unit on Wednesday as well as a live auction in the concourse (during 4th inning) where fans can bid on a "day with Sheriff Grady Judd" that was donated by the sheriff himself.
The Flying Tigers are a Class A Affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. For more information please visit the Flying Tigers online at www.LakelandFlyingTigers.com or call (863) 686-8075.
