Charlotte Stone Crabs News Release

Charlotte Stone Crabs left-hander Enny Romero was selected to participate in the 2012 All-Star Futures Game as a member of the World Team roster. Romero was one of two representatives selected from the Tampa Bay Rays organization, joining fellow southpaw Felipe Rivero of the Bowling Green Hot Rods.

Romero, 21, was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and signed with the Rays as a non-drafted free agent on June 2, 2008. Tampa Bay assigned Romero to the Dominican Summer League that season before advancing him to the Gulf Coast League in 2009. Romero then spent single seasons with both Princeton (2010) and Bowling Green (2011) before joining Charlotte this year.

As a member of the Stone Crabs, Romero has fronted a rotation that included four of Baseball America's Top 30 Prospects in the Rays organization. He has paced the club in innings pitched (73 in 14 appearances) and has been one of the toughest pitchers in the Florida State League to hit against, holding opponents to a league-best .208 BAA. Romero was named the FSL Pitcher of the Week for June 11-17, after hurling seven no-hit innings against St. Lucie on June 11. His 3.08 ERA currently ranks second on the Charlotte staff.

The 14th annual Futures Game takes place on July 8 during the Major League Baseball All-Star Festivities at Kauffman Stadium and can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD. Additionally, XM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio XM 89.

Romero and the Stone Crabs continue their current home stand this evening at 6:30 with a game against the Bradenton Marauders. Tickets for all regular season home games are available at the Charlotte Sports Park Box office, by calling 941-206-HITS, or by visiting www.StoneCrabsBaseball.com.
