Central Illinois Flying Aces News Release
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Central Illinois Flying Aces have announced today that they have traded forward Jeremy Davidson to the Fargo Force for forward, Tyler Gratton, and defenseman, Connor Mayer.
Prior to the trade, Davidson had spent his entire USHL career with Central Illinois. In sixty games during the 2017-18 season, he had thirteen goals and seventeen assists. So far this season, he registered twenty-six points in thirty-three games. Davidson is committed to play for the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
Regarding the trade, head coach and general manager, Mike Watt said, "Getting somebody of Mayer's talent and skill on the backend is really going to help solidify our defensive core. He's a good puck mover, skates very well, sees the ice well, and can play in all situations. With Tyler Gratton, he's a big power forward that has the ability to get to the net, finishes his checks, plays physical, and can play up and down the lineup. They're both big additions for us, obviously we're losing somebody with Jeremy's pedigree of scoring, but I think getting these two players back really helps solidify our lineup top to bottom."
In the trade, the Flying Aces gain two valuable USHL veterans in Gratton and Mayer. Gratton is in his third full USHL season. The Penn State commit played his first two seasons for the Chicago Steel. During the 2017-18 season, he was an associate captain for the Steel as well. This season with the Force, Gratton has tallied eleven points in thirty-two games.
Mayer is also in his third full USHL season, having previously spent time with the Sioux City Musketeers, Madison Capitols, and the Fargo Force. The Colorado College commit was the leading scorer among defenseman on the Force with three goals and eleven assists in thirty-two games.
The Aces will play in Chicago tonight and will return home for a Monday afternoon matinee on January 21st.
