Central Illinois Flying Aces News Release

GENEVA, Ill. - The Central Illinois Flying Aces could not crack the Chicago Steel goaltender tonight, falling 2 to 0.

Central Illinois outshot Chicago 12 to 9 in the first period, but the Steel came away with the frame's only goal thanks to Gunnarwolfe Fontaine. He took the puck in and wristed a puck top-shelf from the top of the right circle at 5:49 to take the early lead.

Each team had chances in the second period, but neither could convert. Central Illinois drew a five-minute major when Cal Kiefiuk (Macomb, Mich.) was crosschecked in the head during a net-front battle, but the Aces couldn't capitalize on the opportunity.

Chicago scored their second of the night, 1:02 into the third. Travis Treloar found Adam Robbins in the slot. Robbins fired a shot and it went off an Aces' stick in front of the net and found the back of the net over Ryan Snowden's (Kennett Square, Penn.) right pad.

Central Illinois had chances in the third including a breakaway chance for Chad Hillebrand (Skokie, Ill.), but the Chicago goaltender held firm.

Snowden was solid in net for the Flying Aces tonight, stopping twenty-two of twenty-four shots faced.

Monday (January 21st), the Flying Aces host the Madison Capitols in a matinee game at 1 p.m. The following weekend they travel to Plymouth, Mich. to face Team USA on January 25th and 26th. This kicks off a stretch of six games on the road before they finally return home on February 15th for Special Olympics Night.
