The Flyers broke out the brooms on the Yuma Scorpions in a 6-3 victory at Goodwin Field Sunday.
Ben Fox pitched into the 9th in dominant fashion to earn his fourth win of the season, Fox struck out eight and did not walk a batter.
The Flyers were trailing 1-0 in the 6th inning, but the offense exploded for 4 runs off SP Aaron Wilson. Rich Pohle gave the Flyers a lead with an RBI double and Peanut Williams stroked his 11th homerun to cap the rally.
The Flyers added two more insurance runs on bases loaded walks in the 8th inning to take a 6-1 lead.
The tying run came to the plate for Yuma in the 9th inning, but Jose Rodriguez grounded into a game ending double play. After the game, the benches cleared in a heated exchange between Pascual Matos and Nick Casanova.
The Flyers sweep moved them to 14-11 and it was their fourth straight win. A huge home-and-home series begins Tuesday against the Long Beach Armada on orangecountyflyers.com .
