Orange County Flyers News Release
The Orange County Flyers continued their dominance of the Chico Outlaws this season with a 10-4 win at Nettleton Stadium. The win dropped the Flyers magic number to clinch the first half title in the South Division to 4.
Jesse Smith (2-0) set the tone for Orange County by dealing six innings and giving up just one earned run. Charles Merricks and Dane De La Rosa continued the effort in relief, as the three pitchers combined to strike out 12 batters without conceding a walk.
Orange County (25-12) took the lead for good behind a six-run 3rd inning that was highlighted by Jeff LaRue's three-run homerun.
Chico's staff settled down until the 9th inning when Pat Breen drove in three runs with a double.
The Flyers have beaten the Outlaws (13-26) in all seven meetings this season. Jeremy Zick will look to continue that streak Tuesday night in Chico.
