The Surf Dawgs took a 7-3 lead in the 6th inning and held onto win 7-6 at Tony Gwynn Stadium to take the rubber match of a three-game series. Rich Pohle drove a three-run homerun in the 7th inning to get the Flyers within a run, but they could not climb the mountain.

In a 3-3 tie, San Diego blew the game open with a four-run 6th inning off of Todd Gelatka. The rally was keyed by clutch singles from Victor Roldan and Adam Mandel.

Mandel also contributed with a big two-RBI single in the 4th inning to give the Surf Dawgs a 3-2 lead.

The Flyers went up 2-1 in the 4th inning when Hector Zamora and Joe Frazee drove in runs.

San Diego broke a scoreless tie with a run in the 3rd inning scored by Mandel and driven in by Scott Goodman's sac fly.

The Flyers tied the game at 3-3 on a throwing error by pitcher Aaron Wilson. Wilson struck out three batters to get out of a bases loaded jam in the inning.

The Flyers threatened to tie the game in the 9th inning, but pinch-hitter Peanut Williams struck out with the tying run on second base.

Chris George earned his second save of the season.

The Flyers and Surf Dawgs will head to Goodwin Field for a three-game series starting Tuesday at 7:05 pm.
