Orange County Flyers News Release

The Flyers blew the Armada away Tuesday night in game one of the Division Series by striking out the last 11 Armada hitters. The Flyers bullpen faced nine hitters and struck all of them out to close a 4-2 win in style.

Orange County trailed 2-0 entering the 8th inning when Dave Bacani, Nick Guerra and Jermy Acey loaded the bases with nobody out for Pat Breen. Breen delivered with a two-run double to tie the game at 2-2. With one out, Brian Rios gave the Flyers their first lead of the night by grounding a single through the right side to drive home Acey.

The Flyers added an insurance run in the 9th inning on a heads up baserunning play by Mark Okano. Okano stole third during a break in play when the Armada infielders thought timeout had been called.

Long Beach built their lead behind a dominant start from Seth Etherton, who pitched seven scoreless innings while striking out 12.

Game 2 will be tomorrow night at Blair Field featuring another great pitching matchup between Bob Cramer of the Flyers and Rik Currier of the Armada.
