Flyers Hold On
June 27, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
The Flyers punctuated a marathon win over the Long Beach Armada with a strikeout by RP Dave Coggin to survive 11-9 at Blair Field.
The Orange County Flyers took a 10-3 lead into the 8th inning, but the bullpen had to hold off a furious Armada rally to win their 6th straight game and remain in first place.
Peanut Williams came up with his best performance of 2007 by going 4-4 and driving in two runs. Rich Pohle added two two-run doubles to the Flyers cause.
Dave Bacani and Garry Templeton II set the table for Pohle and Williams by scoring a combined five runs.
The Flyers received another quality start from Mike Natale, who struck out 10 in seven innings to earn his first victory.
The game ran nearly four hours and was marred by an abundance of walks. There were also eight batters hit with pitches.
The Flyers will look for the sweep Wednesday at 7 p.m. All the action can be heard live on KWRM 1370 am and orangecountyflyers.com.
