Fort Worth Flyers News Release
FORT WORTH, Texas November 27 - The Fort Worth Flyers saw their two-game home winning streak come to an end after a 112-102 loss to the Arkansas RimRockers at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
"The RimRockers were a bit stronger and more aggressive in the inside than us tonight," said head coach Sam Vincent. "Although we continued to fight and play hard and still had a chance to win until the end, anytime a team gets to the free throw line as many times as they did then they will be tough to beat."
The RimRockers got off to a quick start in the first quarter, outscoring the Flyers 25-16 after Pape Sow scored 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The RimRockers increased their lead early in the second period, but a six- point run late in the second quarter by Brandon Robinson helped the Flyers narrow the lead to 50-47 at halftime. The RimRockers came out strong in the second half and built a 14 point lead by the middle of the fourth quarter. The Flyers made a late run fueled by seven points and two key assists by Vonteego Cummings to shrink the RimRockers' lead and bring the score to 98-93. However, the Flyers' rally came up short as the defense committed several late fouls to preserve the win for the RimRockers.
The entire contest proved to be a physical battle as the teams combined for 81 free throw attempts. The Flyers shot 68.8 percent from the line and the RimRockers shot 87.8 percent.
Cummings led the Flyers with 29 points and 6 assists, and Ime Udoka and Robinson each chipped in 16 points. Anthony Terrell also reached double figures with 10 points.
Sow poured in 40 points and 14 rebounds for the RimRockers, and Kareem Reid had 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Brian Jackson and Clay Tucker each added 15 points.
The loss drops the Flyers' record to 3-2 in the D-League, and the RimRockers improved to 1-1. The next game for both teams will be a rematch on Dec. 1 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
