Fort Worth Flyers News Release

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Fort Worth Flyers earned their second victory at home by outlasting the Fayetteville Patriots 115-109 in overtime at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

"Our guys have continued to show fighting ability all the way to the end. The Patriots played hard and were aggressive, but the fact that we were able to come away with a win shows that our team is really growing," said head coach Sam Vincent. "Our ability to stay focused and our commitment to winning says a lot about our guys."

The entire contest proved to be a close battle, and the Flyers carried a narrow 49-47 lead into halftime. The trend continued in the second half as the teams matched one another basket for basket and played to a 74-74 tie in the third quarter. In the middle of the fourth quarter the Patriots took a 94-88 lead after going on a nine point run fueled by seven points from Erik Daniels. The Flyers then rallied to overcome the deficit, taking a 103-100 lead with less than a minute left in the game. However, Kevin "Butter" Johnson sank a 3-point bank shot to tie the score and send the game into overtime. The Flyers defense took over in overtime, holding the Patriots to six points to take the victory.

Two Flyers players posted a double double. Ime Udoka finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Luke Schenscher had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Anthony Terrell added 17 points and 7 rebounds off the bench, and Vonteego Cummings added 14 points and 9 assists. Keith Langford also reached double figures with 12 points.

Seven Patriots scored double digits, including a game high 19 points and 7 rebounds by Daniels followed by 18 points and 9 rebounds by Roderick Riley. Norm Richardson added 17 points, and Mike King contributed 16 points.

The victory brings the Flyers' record to 3-1 in the D-League, and the Patriots fell to 1-2. The Flyers will host the Arkansas RimRockers on Sunday, Nov. 27, and the Patriots will travel to Austin to take on the Toros on Nov. 26.
