Flyers blanked by T-Bones 5-0

Schaumburg Flyers News Release
KANSAS CITY - Missed opportunities plagued the Flyers Wednesday night, as they stranded 12 runners on base and failed to score in a 5-0 loss to Kansas City at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The Flyers could only muster four hits in the contest, but took seven walks and were hit by two pitches. They left the bases loaded twice, and now sit 2.5 games behind the T-Bones for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northern League with 11 games left to play.
Kansas City got to Flyers starter Alain Quijano early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. A run scored when Jacob Blackwood grounded into a 4-6-3 double play with the bases loaded, but a Craig Hurba 2-RBI double after a Neb Brown walk gave the T-Bones all the runs they would need, staking them to a 3-0 lead after the lead frame.
Schaumburg threatened in the third inning against T-Bones starter Ryan Knippschild, loading the bases with two outs. Joe Pauley, making his first start in a Flyers uniform, grounded out to third to end the rally.
Quijano (4-6) would settle down after the first, and looked sharp the next few innings. A solo home run for Damian Rolls in the fifth would make the score 4-0, and Quijano would exit the game after getting the next batter Greg Jacobs to bounce out to second.
Knippschild was erratic on the mound at times, walking three, throwing two wild pitches, and hitting one batter over his six innings of work. The Flyers stranded at least one runner in every inning except the sixth, Knippschild's last.
Kansas City would add their last run off of Flyers reliever Josh Giles in the seventh, as Blackwood's RBI single scored Jeff Helps to arrive at the final 5-0 score.
The T-Bones bullpen took over in the seventh for Knippschild (4-6), and a scoreless inning apiece from Justin James, Daniel Sattler, and Nate Cotton sealed the deal for the T-Bones. The Flyers would once again have the bases loaded on three walks against Sattler in the eighth, but a lineout back to the mound off of the broken bat of Tony Mansolino ended that threat.
Antoan Richardson was a bright spot for the Flyers, reaching base four times on three walks and a hit by pitch. Combined with his fielder's choice in the seventh, Richardson was left on base five times.
The Flyers return home Thursday night to battle the Winnipeg Goldeyes in the final home series at Alexian Field. Tomorrow night's 7:05 contest will see the Flyers throw RHP Ed Almonte (5-10, 4.96). The Goldeyes, who have lost four straight, counter with RHP Mark Michael (2-4, 5.37).
