Sioux Falls Storm News Release

The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce that for the second week in a row, defensive end Nate Fluit has been named UIF Defensive Player of the Week. Fluit is being honored for his play vs. the Sioux City Bandits last Saturday, where he finished the night with six tackles and 4.5 sacks.

Fluit and the Storm were trailing the Bandits the entire contest, until in the middle of the fourth quarter. Fluit managed to block a field goal attempt and give the Storm field position inside the Bandits 15-yard line. On the second play of the possession, the Storm scored and took the lead for the fist time in the contest, 20-17, with seven minutes left in the game. One of Fluit's sacks in the 4th quarter resulted in an important safety that gave Sioux Falls an 8-point lead and the ball with under two minutes to play.

With his 4.5 sacks from last week, Fluit has set a UIF record for most sacks in a season with 15.5. The Sioux Falls defense as a unit has been dominant all season as they are on pace to set a UIF record for least points allowed in a season. The Storm have allowed 295 total points and the record is held by Fort Wayne who allowed 497 last season.

To see Fluit and the "Thunder D" in action this Saturday join the "Storm Chaser" Bus Tour as busses will be traveling to Sioux City on Saturday, June 24 as the Storm take on the Bandits. Seats are still available and can be reserved by calling 332-4225. The busses will depart from Nutty's at 3:30 PM on Saturday as fans can enjoy a tailgate party in Sioux City sponsored by Marshall John's Beef. Seats on the bus cost $35 and include a ticket to the game, beverages on the bus, and the tailgate party.
