
Florida Signs McFarland

The Saginaw Spirit are pleased to congratulate forward John McFarland, who signed an entry level contract with the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers. McFarland joined the Spirit in the first half of the season via trade with the Sudbury Wolves, notching a combined 25 goals and 13 assists for 38 points in 49 regular season games this year. McFarland was drafted by Florida in the second round (33rd overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
"John is another talented prospect who we drafted in the Top 40 last year," Florida Panthers General Manager Dale Tallon told FloridaPanthers.com, "He is a hard working and high character forward, who has the ability to score and will continue to develop both on and off the ice."
