Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, MB. - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that Brandon Wheat King Jayce Hawryluk has agreed to terms on an entry level National Hockey League contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The 20-year old Hawryluk has recorded 79 points (30-49-79) in 49 games with the Wheat Kings (WHL) this season and during the month of February, he recorded seven goals and 33 points in just thirteen games. During that span, he registered ten multi-point games, including a WHL career-high six point performance on February 17 as Brandon has climbed into a first place tie with Lethbridge atop the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference standings.

A former second round draft choice of the Panthers (32nd overall in 2014), the 5'10" 194 lb. Roblin product has played in 223 games in Brandon and has recorded 102 goals and 251 points, while accumulating 237 minutes in penalties.

"This is a special day for Jayce and comes at a time when he is playing his best hockey," says Wheat Kings' coach and general manager Kelly McCrimmon. "I'm sure that he is happy to have this behind him and is looking forward to the remainder of the season and the WHL playoffs."

Hawryluk was Brandon's second round selection (32nd overall) in the 2011 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Winner of Brandon's Turk Broda Trophy as the club's Top Manitoba Born Player in 2014-15, Hawryluk becomes the fourth member of this year's team to sign on the dotted line with an NHL club, joining Ivan Provorov (Philadelphia), John Quenneville (New Jersey) and Tim McGauley (Washington).

Hawryluk and the Wheat Kings return home for back to back home games this week - Wednesday night vs. Saskatoon and Friday against Moose Jaw.

Tickets to both games are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com. Wednesday night is also the second and final Rain Check game of the 2015-16 season. Friday is also the deadline for fans to purchase their Playoff Packages and save $4 off every Wheat Kings home playoff game.
