Florida Firecats Remain Third in Week Five Coaches Poll

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats received 392 points to finish third in the Week Five Coaches Poll, the arenafootball2 (af2) league office announced today. The Firecats stayed in the third spot for a second consecutive week after a 55-26 road victory over new South Division and in-state rival Daytona Beach. Florida did receive a first place vote for the first time this season.

By securing 445 out of a possible 448 points, the defending ArenaCup champion Tulsa Talons maintained the top spot in the poll for the fifth consecutive week. The Talons continued their strong start to the 2008 season with a convincing 70-34 victory last Saturday against Oklahoma City The Spokane Shock maintained the number two spot for a fourth straight week after resting through bye week in week four. Florida, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Lubbock rounded out the top five.

Each week during the season, af2 coaches vote for the Top 16 teams in the league by ranking them one through 16. The complete Top 16 is listed below. The number in parentheses indicates the number of first place votes the team received.
