Florida Firecats add All-Big 12 Receiver

Estero, FL- The Florida Firecats added another big offensive threat when they were assigned 6'5" 180lb WR/LB James Terry.

Terry graduated in 2003 from Kansas State where he finished his senior year with 64 grabs, 1,232 yards and 13 touchdowns, more than doubling his production from the previous year. The All-Big XII wide receiver capped that stellar final year by hauling in a 64-yard bomb in the upset rout over favored Oklahoma in the Big XII Championship game. "It was one of those games you dream about, you just can't believe it," stated Terry.

The tall, thin and acrobatic receiver has developed his game into one of precision. Excellent route running, utilizing double cuts and displaying sharpness out of his breaks, allows him to separate from defenders. Known for making the tough catch, he has come a long way from playing quarterback at South Dade high where he earned All-Dade and All-State honors. He also played safety in high school.

Terry was a free agent pick up for the San Diego Charges in 2004. There he was able to get a feel for the fast tempo, learn on the go lifestyle of professional football. That experience has helped him develop "a more aggressive attitude to just get the ball," says Terry who hopes to use that newfound fire to the Firecats advantage.

This will be his fourth team in four years and he plans on making the most of it. On playing college ball, NFL, CFL and now the af2 he stated simply, "No matter where you at always go out and prove yourself."

The Miami native has already circled the Firecats two games against the Macon Knights on his calendar, the team his brother Shawn Terry plays for.

The Florida Firecats will report to camp Wednesday March 22nd. The team plans to bring 35 players into camp but will have to cut the roster down to 24 by their 1st game.

The Florida Firecats open the 2006 season Saturday April 8th on the road against the defending Champion Memphis Xplorers. The Firecats will host the Xplorers Saturday April 22nd at Germain Arena for their home opener.
