FLORENCE, S.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs dropped their second straight game on Friday, 14-2 to the Florence Redwolves at American Legion Park in Florence. The loss drops the SwampDogs to 7-3 on the season.

Will Strack (0-1) made his first start as a SwampDog, but could not get through the second inning. He allowed six runs, all earned, on three hits and six walks in just 1.2 innings. At one point, Strack walked four in a row, bringing in two of the four runs Florence would score in the second inning.

Josh Elmore came on in relief and stopped the bleeding, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks in 4.1 innings. The Redwolves tagged Rusty White for five more runs in the eighth on another walk and three hit batters, as every Florence starter reached base safely multiple times.

Michael Guinane (1-0) allowed one run in six innings to earn the win for Florence. He allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out six SwampDogs. Sam O'Neill pitched the final three innings to earn his first save of the season.

Joe Vaskas went 3-for-4 for the SwampDogs, and Shawn Pleffner delivered a sac fly to get Fayetteville on the board early, but for the second straight night the offense was mostly held in check and wound up leaving seven runners on base.

The SwampDogs return home to J.P. Riddle Stadium Saturday night for the return game of the home-and-home against Florence, and the first 500 fans 21 and up will receive a free pint glass courtesy of R.A. Jeffreys Distributing and Budweiser. The Fayetteville Fire Department will host their charity softball game prior to the SwampDogs game, so gates open early at 4:30 p.m. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
