Flint Generals announce roster moves - Alban is activated among others

FLINT, MI -- With just two weeks remaining in the International Hockey League regular season, the Flint Generals are beginning to round into form at just the right time. The Gens finished one of their most productive weeks of the month of March posting a 2-1-1-0 mark with five out of a possible eight points. Flint currently sits third in the Turner Cup Playoff chase just two points ahead of fourth place Muskegon, but four points up on fifth place Kalamazoo Wings. The Generals announced some roster moves today (Monday) prior to the game on Wednesday night on home ice when they host the Muskegon Fury at 7 pm at Perani Arena and Event Center. The club has waived defenseman Shaun Fisher and goaltender Bill Ruggiero. Forward Mike Kinnie has been placed on the 45-day non-roster spot and will have surgery on his knee. Goaltender Chad Alban has been activated from the injured reserve list. Defenseman Brock Wilson is also expected to return from his time spent with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. Alban has been sidelined with an injury since early December and is expected to make his first start this week. The Generals also announced the signing of amateur Kyle Deck for the stretch drive and the playoffs. Deck, a native of Sedley, Saskatchewan, spent five seasons with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League where in 266 games, he notched 25 goals 79 assists for 104 points and 310 penalty minutes. Don't miss the stretch drive of the International Hockey League season as the Flint Generals hit the ice with four games in five nights including three games at home. It starts on Wednesday with a big showdown with the Muskegon Fury at 7 pm and continues on Friday night with a visit to Kalamazoo to face the Wings at Wings Stadium at 7:30 pm. The Gens will then close out the weekend with a pair of games at home, hosting the Bloomington Prairie Thunder at 7:30 pm on Saturday and then the Muskegon Fury on Sunday at 4pm.
