
Three Port Huron Icehawks Receive IHL Weekly Honors

PORT HURON, Mich. - Three members of the Port Huron Icehawks received International Hockey League honors for the week ending March 31, the league announced Monday.
Jamie Carroll was named Aquafina Rookie of the Week, Jamie Lovell was named Pepsi Defenseman of the Week and Marty Magers received Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week honors, after a week in which the team went 2-0-0-1.
Carroll had two multi-point games for the Icehawks last week and finished the week with three goals, two assists and a plus/minus rating of +3. Carroll is currently ranked second in the league in shots (294) and is ranked second among league rookies in scoring with 62 points (26g, 36a). The 24-year old has now received league honors seven times this season. He was also named IHL Rookie of the Week in weeks three, seven, fifteen, and eighteen, Forward of the Week in week two, Rookie of the Month in October.
Lovell becomes the third Icehawk to earn weekly defensive honors. He dished out an assist in all three of the Icehawks games last week and finished the week with a plus/minus rating of +4. The defenseman leads the team and is ranked sixth in the league for scoring among defenseman with 29 points (7g, 22a) this season.
Magers completed the week with a 1-0-0-1 record. He posted a .940 save percentage and a 1.92 goals against average, allowing only four goals against in 125 minutes of play. On Wednesday, the rookie stopped 30 shots versus Bloomington to earn his first shutout of the season. Magers also reached a personal milestone on Wednesday and surpassed 5,000 minutes in his professional career. The goalie, who is ranked fourth among IHL goaltenders in goals against average (2.89), was also named IHL Goalie of the Week in weeks seven and twenty-two this season.
Bloomington forward Don Parsons prevented a Port Huron sweep of the weekly honors and took home Forward of the Week accolades.
