
Flight Wins Second Straight To Start Season

ASHEVILLE, N.C., Nov. 16 â Marcus Fleming scored eight of his nine points in the final period to help give the Huntsville Flight a 79-74 victory here Saturday night over the Asheville Altitude.
The Flight improved to 2-0 as Brandon Williams led the squad in scoring with 18 points, while Lonnie Harrell added 15 and Eric Chenowith 11. The Altitude dropped to 0-2, but got double-digit point outputs from Jeff Trepagnier who tallied 19, followed by Larry Abney's 15 and Andre Woolridge's 14.
Down 51-49 to start the fourth, the Flight scored the first five points of the final period and went on an 18-6 run to give them a 67-57 advantage midway through the quarter. Huntsville increased its margin to 12 at 73-61 â its biggest advantage of the game â before the Altitude used an 8-0 run to cut gap to 73-69 in the final minute.
Bakari Hendrix then hit a bucket with 31 seconds remaining and added 1-of-2 free throws seven seconds later, before Harrell added a pair of free throws with 13 ticks to play and Williams one free throw with seven seconds on the clock in preserving the victory.
The Flight converted 41.8 percent of their shots, hitting 28-of-67 from the field. They also dominated the boards, holding 43-36 rebounding advantage over the Altitude. Rodney Bias grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds off the bench, while Fleming added eight in a reserve role.
Huntsville led after one period 22-16 and 37-32 at the half, before being outscored 19-12 in the third period to fall behind by two entering the last quarter.
The Flight opens their home season Thursday at the Von Braun Center when they entertain the North Charleston Lowgators. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
