Flight Brings in Veteran Forward

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 15 – The Huntsville Flight has claimed veteran forward Cedric Henderson from the National Basketball Development League available player pool and waived forward Joe Shipp while he rehabilitates an injury.

Henderson, 6-7, 225 from Memphis (97), is a six-year NBA veteran who is taking his third turn in the NBDL. In stints with the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, Henderson has played in 260 NBA games (136 starts), averaging 23.8 minutes, 7.3 points and 2.9 rebounds. In four NBA playoff games (four starts), he averaged 7.5 points and 4.3 rebounds.

A second-round selection (45th overall) of the Cavaliers in the 1997 NBA Draft, Henderson scored an NBA career-high 30 points against the Vancouver Grizzlies on February 25, 1998. He has also played in 44 NBDL games, 31 with Mobile in 2002-03 and 13 with Fayetteville last season, averaging 29.1 minutes, 14.8 points and 3.9 rebounds.

One of the top scorers in the NBDL this season, Shipp played in and started 17 games for the Flight, averaging 34.8 minutes, 16.2 points and 4.3 rebounds.

Henderson is expected to be in uniform tonight when Huntsville is host to Columbus. He will wear jersey #45.
