
Fleming Bags Five Hits, But Shrimp Rally Falls Short

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Billy Fleming homered and collected five hits for Jacksonville on Tuesday, but the Jumbo Shrimp's comeback bid came up short in an 8-6 loss to the Chattanooga Lookouts from the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
With the score tied at three in the fourth, Michael Beltre homered off Jacksonville (36-47, 7-6) starter Sixto Sanchez (3-4) to put Chattanooga (43-39, 7-6) ahead 4-3. Reiver Sanmartin followed with a base hit before Alfredo Rodriguez drew a walk. Taylor Trammell then singled to load the bases. After a strikeout, Ibandel Isabel smashed a grand slam to extend the Lookouts lead to 8-3.
With two outs in a scoreless top of the first, Jose Siri walked. Isabel singled and then Tyler Stephenson drew a free pass to load the bases. Gavin LaValley was then hit by a pitch to force in the game's first run.
The Lookouts used another two-out rally in the second. Rodriguez singled before Trammell homered to make it 3-0.
Fleming put the Jumbo Shrimp on the board with a solo home run to begin the bottom of the second.
Jacksonville was able to tie the game in the third. Brian Miller started the inning by reaching on an error before going to second on a wild pitch. Two batters later, Joe Dunand singled him in to draw the Jumbo Shrimp within one. Consecutive base hits by Fleming and Gabriel Guerrero juiced the bases again, which allowed a run to score on an RBI ground out from J.C. Millan, evening the tally at three.
With the Jumbo Shrimp down 8-3, Justin Twine singled to jumpstart the fifth. After a foul out, Fleming collected a base knock and Guerrero added an RBI single. Two batters later, Anfernee Seymour doubled in a pair to pull Jacksonville within 8-6.
Aaron Fossas (4-2) earned the win for the Lookouts with 2.1 scoreless frames. Juan Martinez picked up his fourth save.
Tuesday's winning raffle number of 1507233009 won a prize of $119.
The Jumbo Shrimp wrap up their series with Chattanooga in Wednesday's 7:05 p.m. contest from the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The winner will go home with a year's supply of hot dogs and season tickets to the 2020 Jumbo Shrimp season.
