Abbotsford Heat News Release

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today they have signed centre Krys Kolanos to a two year, two-way contract and have recalled him from the Abbotsford Heat.

"Krys has been one of our best players in Abbotsford and has done everything we've asked of him to earn this opportunity," said Flames General Manager Jay Feaster. "He has worked hard on being a responsible two-way player and we look forward to him contributing to our success at both ends of the ice."

Kolanos, a native of Calgary, Alberta, has played 136 NHL games scoring 20 goals and adding 21 assists for 41 points and 92 penalty minutes with Phoenix, Edmonton, and Minnesota. After joining the Abbotsford Heat (AHL) on a professional try-out agreement, Krys went on to earn an AHL contract with the club. He leads the team in scoring with 40 points (18-22-40) in 34 games. He was selected to represent the West in the AHL All-Star game this past weekend and collected a helper in the All-Star Classic.

The Heat are currently on break for the AHL All-Star Classic; Abbotsford resumes action in Rochester on February 2nd for their first meeting of the season against the Americans. Clay Wilson, Krys Kolanos and Brian Connelly are in Atlantic City taking part in the annual AHL All-Star game. The trio will re-join the team in Rochester in early February.
