SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - When it comes to the Jr. StreetKings playoffs, nothing is certain.

After falling 12-2 on August 12, the Flames (2-6-3) took the last game of the regular season before sweeping the Ducks (6-2-3) in a best-of-three game series to take the Summer Session championship with an 11-9 win Monday followed by a 10-7 series-clinching victory Tuesday night.

Colin Jewell led the charge for the Flames in the post-season, notching seven goals and an assist en route to the Playoff MVP. In the regular season, the Ducks' Landon Ellis' league-leading 24 goals earned him team MVP, while Austin Shurden's 17 goal and two assist season gave him the nod of team MVP for the Flames.

While championships and end-of-season accolades may be something the players strive for, Jr. StreetKings Commissioner Josh Mathenia looks for something else.

"There was such a huge improvement from all the kids from the beginning of the summer to now," Mathenia said. "They were skating with confidence, which really says a lot about the quality of coaches we have. They are very knowledgeable and display a great passion for the game."

Registration for the 2013 Fall Season is open now. For more information on the Jr. StreetKings, check out www.jrstreetkings.com.

The RiverKings open their 2013-14 quest for the President's Cup at home on October 26 against the Louisiana IceGators. Group tickets start at $8 and are available by contacting the RiverKings front office at 662-342-1755.
