Flame Acquires Tim Pickett
January 22, 2005 - NBA G League (G League)
Florida Flame News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. â The Florida Flame has acquired guard Tim Pickett from the National Basketball Development League available player pool, according to an announcement by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Florida head coach Dennis Johnson.
A second round selection (44th overall) by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2004 NBA Draft, Pickett fills the roster spot vacated when Smush Parker earned a GATORADE Call-up to the Phoenix Suns earlier this week. Pickett was waived by New Orleans on November 19 after beginning the season on the injured list with back spasms. He was activated on November 17, but failed to play in a game for the Hornets.
At 6-4, 207, Pickett was a First Team All-ACC selection as a senior at Florida State ('04). He finished his career as the all-time leader in three-point field goals made per game at Florida State with 3.1. He averaged a team-high 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds as a senior. He was third in the nation in three-point field goals made (110) and tied for 10th in steals (82). He also earned ACC All-Defensive Team honors.
Pickett is expected to join the Flame in time for Sunday's game against the Fayetteville Patriots at Germain Arena. He will wear jersey #22. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
