Five More Signed to Rough Riders 2006 Roster

Peoria Rough Riders Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Chuck Goodwin announced today the signings DB Bobby Speer, DB/WR Blue Aldridge and DB Montae Bailey. Speer and Aldridge were both signed following the team's tryout on January 25th.

DB Bobby Speer (5'11, 205 lbs) joins the Rough Riders after completing his college career at NCAA Div. III Aurora University in Aurora, IL. In his only season with the Spartans, Speer amassed 31tackles (22 solo, 9 assisted), had 1 interception, which was returned for 45 yards and recovered 2 fumbles. Prior to joining Aurora, Bobby played at NCAA Div. II Winston-Salem State University for three seasons.

DB/WR Blue Aldridge (6'2", 210 lbs) comes to Peoria from NCAA Div. III Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA. Aldridge was a four-year letter winner for the Rams. In 2005, Blue collected 80 tackles (55 solo, 25 assisted), 2 interceptions returned for 20 yards and forced 2 fumbles recovering 1. Blue was third on the team in tackles and interceptions.

DB Montae Bailey (6'0", 190 lbs.) will also continue his football career with the Peoria Rough Riders. Bailey originally attended North Dakota State but transferred to NJCAA Ridgewater Community College after his freshman year. In 2003 Bailey started at DB/KR for the Warriors earning Minnesota Community College Conference (MCCC) honors. At the same time Montae played with the Semi-Pro St. Paul Pioneers helping the team to its first American Football Association (AFA) National Championship. Bailey was named Co-MVP for the championship game and Semi-Pro 2nd Team All-American. Montea played for the Semi-Pro Twin Cities Titans in 2004 earning 3rd team All-American honors.

Last season Bailey returned to Ridgewater Community College and led the MCCC in solo tackles and defensive points before a high ankle sprain ended his season. Montea earned 1st team All- MCCC Conference and NJCAA Region 13 All-Region honors for his play this past season.

The Peoria Rough Riders have also signed WR/DB Joseph Mapson (5'10", 180 lbs./ Concordia University- St. Paul) and QB Robert Swanson (6'3", 230 lbs./ University of St. Francis). Mapson becomes the fourth Golden Bear to join the Rough Riders (Ya'Tarrie Brown, C.J. Sanderson, Samuel Blocker). Swanson has been playing semi-pro ball for the past 5 years splitting time with the Kane County Eagles and the Lake County Chiefs.

Other News and Notes:

- Single game tickets for the Rough Riders 2006 season are now on sale. Fans can purchase tickets by visiting the Peoria Civic Center Box Office, over the phone by calling 673-3200 or on the Internet at www.ticketmaster.com.

- Members of the 2006 Peoria Rough Riders will report to camp next Thursday, March 9th. A Training Camp Schedule will be released to the media next Monday, March 6th.

The Peoria Rough Riders will open their 2nd season in United Indoor Football on Saturday, March 25th against new rival, the Bloomington Extreme. In 8 seasons of Indoor/Arena Football the Peoria Franchise has amassed a record of 69 wins and 49 losses including four championship game appearances (1999,2000,2002,2004) and 2 league championships (2000 IFL Gold Cup, 2002 af2 Arena Cup).
