COLUMBUS, GA (June 21, 2012) - On Thursday, the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) announced that five members of the Columbus Lions earned All-PIFL first-team and second-team nominations.
Leading the way for Columbus is WR Maurice Dupree (5'10 190, Jacksonville St.) who was one of four players selected unanimously overall as a PIFL first-teamer. Dupree completed the 2012 season as the leader in points scored (242), TD receptions (40), and receiving yards (1278) managing to finish second overall in all-purpose yards despite not having one kick return to his credit.
Fellow WR London Crawford (6'2 205, Arkansas) landed on the PIFL's first-team as well ending the season as the only receiver to top the century mark in catches (103) and was one of three receivers in the PIFL to top 1,000 receiving yards. Crawford had four games in which he had receptions of double digits, the most by any receiver in the PIFL.
Despite being the only passer to surpass 3,000 yards, QB Randy Hippeard (6'1 190, Virginia-Wise) landed on the All-PIFL second-team. Hippeard also lead all QB's in passing TD's (72), completion percentage (64.5%), as well as managed to complete 86 more passes than the QB who finished ahead of him in the All-PIFL voting, Richmond Raiders QB Antwon Young.
OL Dion Small (6'3 310, Troy) can add another all-league honor to his mantle as he finished on the All-PIFL's second-team. Small earned first-team nods in both 2010 and 2011 campaigns. Rookie DB Cortez Stubbs (5'10 190, Concordia) grabbed an All-PIFL second-team nomination leading the Columbus defense in both tackles (39.5) and interceptions (5).
