Hammers Place Seven on All-PIFL Teams

KNOXVILLE, TN (June 21, 2012) - The Professional Indoor Football League announced its 2012 ALL-PIFL first and second teams on Thursday and the Alabama Hammers placed seven players on the squads.

The Hammers - who finished up a 3-8 campaign - placed three of them placed on the first-team. Wide receiver and former UNA standout Mico McSwain nabbed a first-team nod after ending the regular season second in TD receptions (24) and defensive teammate linebacker Darian Payne took home a first-team spot leading the club in both tackles (45.5) and interceptions (4). Specialist Charles McClain, out of UNA, earned the first-team spot as a kick-returner averaging the most yards/game (113.2) as well as finished third overall league-wide in all-purpose yards (1132).

Second-team honors went to offensive lineman Darius Turner and kicker Jamie Whitworth, who converted 12 of 19 field goals and 76 of 83 extra points. Defensive lineman Irving McGuire had 19 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 11 games for Alabama and ex-Alabama A&M star Al Donaldson had a team second-best 44.5 tackles and four interceptions to close out the second team representation for the Hammers.
