Five Jets Selected in 2022 USHL Draft

JANESVILLE, WI - The Jets were one of the busier teams in the NAHL during the United States Hockey League's (USHL) Phase II Draft on Tuesday morning. Second-year defenseman Grayden Daul was the first of five Jets selected on the second and final day of the Tier I league draft. Thanks to a successful sophomore year in the NAHL, Daul was taken quickly by the Sioux City Musketeers with the 12th pick of the second round, 28th overall.

Also fresh off his second year, goaltender Owen Millward followed closely behind Daul, just six picks later, to the Waterloo Black Hawks. Affiliated player J.J. Wiebusch, who played in two games in Janesville last year and recorded an assist, was selected four rounds later by the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. The Des Moines Buccaneers maintained their strong pipeline and relationship with the Jets by taking Top Prospects defenseman Will Troutwine with the first pick in the tenth round, then grabbed one more Jet in tender Max Giblin, who has put up great numbers the last three seasons at Hudson High School.

Only one other NAHL team had more players selected than the Jets. The division rival Minnesota Wilderness had seven players selected. The Maryland Black Bears tied the Jets with five picks. The Chippewa Steel finished with four, and the Anchorage Wolverines and Minnesota Magicians (now Wisconsin Windingo, click here for story) tied with three.
