
Five Flying Tigers Selected to Florida State League All-Star Team

Lakeland, FL - The Florida State League (FSL) 2014 All-Star teams have been announced by League President Chuck Murphy. Starting pitchers Jake Thompson, Kevin Eichhorn and Josh Turley, relief pitcher Angel Nesbitt and catcher Austin Green will represent the Flying Tigers at the 53rd annual FSL All-Star Game. The game will take place at McKechnie Field in Bradenton, home of the Bradenton Marauders, on Saturday, June 14 at 7:05 p.m.
Jake Thompson is currently 5-1 with a 1.64 ERA. He has allowed only 38 hits in 55.0 innings pitched with 52 strikeouts. His 5 wins are currently tied for 2nd in the league and he is currently 3rd in the FSL in ERA. He also ranks 6th in strikeouts, 2nd in batting average against at .200 and has the 4th highest SO/IP ratio at 8.51. Thompson was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the second round of the June 2012 draft from Rockwall-Health High School in Texas where he was a First-Team High School All-American. He is currently ranked as the 3rd best prospect in the Tigers organization by MLB.com.
Josh Turley is currently 5-0 with a 1.85 ERA. He has allowed only 46 hits in 63.1 innings pitched with 51 strikeouts. His 5 wins are currently tied for 2nd in the league and he is currently 5th in the FSL in ERA. He also ranks 5th in the league in innings pitched, 2nd in WHIP at 0.96 and 3rd in batting average against at .211. Turley was selected by the Tigers in the 16th round of the June 2012 draft from Baylor University where he earned All-Big 12 Conference honors.
Kevin Eichhorn is currently 4-0 with a 1.95 ERA. He has allowed only 50 hits in 69.1 innings pitched. He is currently leads the league in innings pitched, is 7th in the league in ERA and 5th in batting average against at .214. Eichhorn was acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a trade in 2011. He was originally selected by Arizona in the 3rd round of the June 2008 draft from Aptos High School in California.
Angel Nesbitt is currently 2-0 with 11 saves and a 0.86 ERA. He has allowed only 22 hits in 31.1 innings pitched with 32 strikeouts and ranks 2nd in the league in saves and is tied for 2nd with 16 games finished. Nesbitt was signed by the Tigers as a non-drafted free agent in 2009 and is from Aragua, Venezuela.
Austin Green is currently hitting .236 with 3 home runs and 11 RBI. He has 6 doubles and has scored 15 runs. He has been one of the best defensive catchers in the league committing only 1 error in 286 total chances.
