Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

Missoula, MT.- Frankie Jezioro of the Grand Junction Rockies has proven to be a tough out for the Missoula PaddleHeads and was once again on Saturday night in Game 4 of the series. The former Ogden Raptor would hit a solo blast to get the Rockies on the board. However, the problem for Grand Junction was that Jezioro would be the only one to bring a run across. Highlighted by a solid outing from Domingo Pena, the PaddleHeads pitching staff shut down the Rockies attack allowing just five hits overall in a 7-1 victory.

Pena would be in command for much of his outing allowing only 4 hits over 5 1/3 innings. Pena was able to locate his fastball well through the majority of the night setting up his other pitches. The former Royals farmhand would strikeout 6 batters in those frames while issuing only 1 walk. The win for Pena was his seventh of the season which ranks second amongst all pitchers in the Pioneer League.

The PaddleHeads would quickly jump on the board in support of Pena in the home half of the first thanks to shortstop Clay Fisher. The former Gaucho would drive home the first run of the game in the frame on a double down the left field line. Fisher would do more damage in the fifth driving in a run on a single and would finish the game 4-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Fisher has recorded a hit in each of his last 12 games overall.

Not to be outdone was centerfielder Brandon Riley who also finished the game with four hits. The North Carolina native would drive in a run in the sixth on a single to highlight his efforts finishing the game 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.

The bullpen trio of Davis Delorefice, Mason Schwellenbach, and Mark Simon would shut the door down the stretch allowing only one hit over the final 3 2/3 innings of play. It would be just another day at the office for Simon over the final two innings of the game as the Houston product would strike out 4 over those innings while not allowing a run.

Game 5 between the PaddleHeads (43-18), and Rockies (35-25) could prove to be critical as both teams look for an advantage in this six-game slate Sunday with both teams splitting the first four games. The action is set to begin at 5:05 p.m. Catch the game on ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
