
Fisher Cats Win Monday Marathon 7-4 over Rock Cats

NEW BRITAIN, CT- Jon Berti went 4-for-7 and drove in the go-ahead run in the top of the 14th inning and Brad Glenn homered twice in the Fisher Cats 7-4 win on Monday night at New Britain Stadium.
Kenny Wilson led off the 14th with a single, scoring on Berti's double. Berti moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a foul fly from Brad Glenn. Ryan Schimpf doubled, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on an error to put the Fisher Cats up 7-4.
Gregory Infante worked around an error in the bottom of the 14th for his third save capping a tremendous night for the Fisher Cats bullpen, which worked 9.1 innings of scoreless relief after the Rock Cats opened a 4-1 lead.
New Britain (4-11) put together three consecutive singles in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Daniel Ortiz singled, moved to second on a single by Nate Hanson, and scored on a single by Kennys Vargas.
The Fisher Cats (6-9) came back to tie the game on a solo home run by Glenn leading off the top of the second inning. It was his second of the season.
New Britain moved back in front 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning on a solo homer by Nate Hanson.
The Rock Cats opened the lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brandon Waring singled and scored on a single by Ortiz. Tony Thomas, who had singled and moved to third on the Ortiz hit, scored on a wild pitch against Fisher Cats starter Scott Copeland (4.2 IP- 4 ER).
New Hampshire took advantage of a mistake in the field to score the team's second run. Michael Crouse walked to lead off the fifth, moving to third on a double by Berti. When the relay throw was muffed, Crouse scored to cut the Rock Cats lead to 4-2.
Glenn hit his second homer of the game leading off the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Fisher Cats tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, again with the help of an error. Glenn, who reached on a fielders choice, moved to third on a Schimpf double. Glenn scored when a grounder hit by Andy Burns was dropped at first base.
John Anderson (2.1 IP), Tyler Ibarra (2.0 IP), Tony Davis (3.0 IP), Scott Gracey (1.0 IP) and Gregory Infante (1.0 IP) each worked scoreless relief for the Fisher Cats.
Adrian Salcedo (0-2), New Britain's seventh pitcher, took the loss.
The series continues on Tuesday night in New Britain at 6:35pm. RHP Casey Lawrence (1-0, 1.72) is scheduled for to start for the Fisher Cats against New Britain RHP Virgil Vasquez (0-0, 6.75). Radio coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. with Bob Lipman on WGIR 610 AM and www.nhfishercats.com.
