New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

With the Super Bowl over for most of you reading this, that can only mean one thing for the diehard baseball fans among you: it's baseball season now! Pitchers and catchers report in a few weeks, and starting Monday, the Fisher Cats celebrate the beginning of all-baseball talk with the online launch of individual game ticketing!

With Opening Day, April 15th drawing ever so close, we have plenty of insider stuff to tell you -- so we're expanding from monthly to every two weeks for the next six weeks. From there on until the end of the Fisher Cats season, you'll get your Insider once a week! So happy reading, and take the glove out of the closet, because it's just about time to say, "Play Ball!"

TICKETS ON SALE!

Whether you have season tickets already and want to get some more tickets for friends, or you've been waiting to pick out a few great games for the season, the TIME IS NOW! Individual tickets go on sale Monday, February 2 at 9 am -- only on www.nhfishercats.com!

Tickets will go on sale to the general public next Monday, Feb. 9 at our offices and over the phone, but this is your chance to the best pickings, without ever having to leave your home or pick up the phone! Get the best seats for games against AL East rivals like the Trenton Thunder (Yankees affiliate), the Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox) and the Bowie Baysox (Orioles), just by a few clicks of your mouse.

You've helped us to hit the 90,000-tickets-sold level already, and now we're hoping you'll click away and tell your friends that now is the time to get their seats. With over 22 projected sellouts already before individual game seats go on sale, demand is high and online traffic is expected to be heavy. But we can handle it, and we can't wait to see you at Gill in 2004!

We're Looking for Stars!

Ever heard a public address announcer at a ballpark or arena and thought, "Hey, I can do that!" Well, we at the Fisher Cats believe in you. Come out Thursday, February 19 from 7 to 9 pm at the Palace Theater in downtown Manchester and show us whatcha got!

No past experience is necessary -- just a great voice, an energetic personality and the ability to be at all Fisher Cats home games at least an hour before the game until immediately after the game, as you'll be the full-game, in-park voice of the team booming out from the press box. The position is a per-game paid position.

Depending on the quality of the talent, we could select more than one PA announcer. We'll have Fisher Cats staff and recognized local voices on hand to help us find the best of the best.

We'll also be holding tryouts to sing the National Anthem at one of our 2004 home games. The audition is schedule for Thursday, March 4 from 5 to 9:30 pm, also at the Palace Theater. More details will follow in the next Insider, but for now, email baseballinfo@nhfishercats.com to reserve your tryout spot for both auditions. Fisher Cats staff will contact you the week of the tryouts with more details.

Get a Gameday Job With Us!

We've been flooded with phone calls and emails asking us how to get a job with the Fisher Cats. So much so that we are holding the first annual Fisher Cats Job Fair, February 21st from 10 am to 2 pm at team's offices (Hampshire Plaza Mall, 1000 Elm St., downtown Manchester).

We have many jobs to fill for the 2004 season at Gill Stadium -- from ticket takers to concessions workers, ushers to parking attendants, if you want to get in with the Fisher Cats, this is a great place to get started.

No ballpark is necessary, just a professional work ethic, an outgoing personality and a promise to give every fan the utmost top-notch customer service. For more information, please visit www.nhfishercats.com, call 603-641-2005, or email baseballinfo@nhfishercats.com.

Fisher Cats Logo'ed Hats Are In!

The hats we thought were coming in April have arrived for February! Be the first fans to get your logo'ed adjustable hats -- with the team's home cap logo and the team's alternate cap logo (the one with just the fisher head).

This is just the beginning of endless clothing and souvenir options for our fans in 2004! Official workout shorts, jackets, women's polo shirts and toddler clothing is also available online now and at the team's offices.

Fundraising With Fisher Cats Group Outings

The Fisher Cats are working hard to build relationships with youth leagues around the state. Leagues from Manchester to Goffstown to Weare have signed on to bring their players out to the ballpark to show them how hard work can turn into a pro-baseball career ... and to have a lot of fun at Gill at the same time!

Groups that sign up for outings are being given two great ways to raise money for their organizations while enjoying Double-A baseball at Gill. First, groups are signing up to sell programs before the game. Kids will sell programs for $2 and keep $1 for every program sold -- while still being done in time to watch the game. Second, the Fisher Cats are offering groups the chance to sell fundraiser packs. These six-ticket-voucher packs, a $24 value, are being sold to groups for $20 -- that means the group will make $4 for each pack sold!

In addition to these fundraising options, groups of 30 or more can buy tickets for $3.50 each, saving 50 cents per ticket. And we'll be having four special days at Gill in 2004 - two educational days, where kids will be given special brain exercises to accentuate learning through kids' love of baseball; and two parks and recreation days, where summer camps will be celebrated, giving camps another great field trip for campers and counselors alike.

Spring Training Update

Just by signing up for the Insider, you showed us that like us, you can't wait for baseball season to get here. Well, with February upon us, the key dates start to get solidified. The Blue Jays have set their spring training schedule and with it, we now have a much clearer idea of when all the Grapefruit League action will take place.

Here's a special insider primer on when all the key players will be available:
- February 21: Pitchers and catchers report to Blue Jays camp in Dunedin
- February 25: Position players report to Blue Jays camp in Dunedin
- March 1: Blue Jays Media Day - a perfect day to get pictures and autographs of all your favorite stars
- March 5: Blue Jays open Grapefruit League schedule - 1:05 pm at Cincinnati Reds
- March 9: minor league players report to Dunedin as teams begin to be split up into 2004 squads
- March 13: Blue Jays host the Red Sox, 1:05 pm
- March 30: Blue Jays host the Red Sox, 1:05 pm

The Blue Jays spring training home is Dunedin, Florida. Check out www.dunedin-fl.com for more information on hotels, restaurants and directions to Dunedin Stadium.

Anyone for Some Whiffleball?

We told you we were looking to plan a whiffle ball tournament for mid-March in our last Insider. Well, the outburst of fan excitement for the idea has kept us going. Now, we're getting close to announcing the official details of the event. Warning: with the number of players potentially involved, we could be doing a "midnight madness"-type event!

We'll be capping the number of competitors, as fans will get a chance to play local media celebrities to benefit local charities and for bragging rights as the ultimate Fisher Cats Whiffleball Champ! The two teams to make it to the finals will battle it out in front of thousands in a pre-game event at a 2004 Fisher Cats home game!

Spread the word -- if you're interested in playing in the tournament, email baseballinfo@nhfishercats.com. Entry fee is tentatively $15 per player or $50 for each team signing up. We're expecting spots to fill up quickly, so please sign up today.

Do you have what it takes? We want you and your friends to come out and show the Granite State you are the Ultimate Whiffle King or Queen!

Win Prizes for Ideas!

For our first Insider contest, we're asking you to open up your creative side and give us the best theme night ideas for our 2004 season. Here's what we're looking for:

Minor league baseball is all about having fun and wacky ideas. So send us a plan for a theme night at the ballpark. Some ideas used in the past include Bald is Beautiful Night, where bald folks were celebrated and fans were given bald skull caps. Theme nights are a celebration of anything -- a decade, a musical genre, pop culture favorites (like "I Love Lucy" night).

Email your ideas to baseballinfo@nhfishercats.com by February 15! The best idea will turn into an official 2004 season theme night. You'll win a New Hampshire Baseball Mug, a Fisher Cats cap, two tickets to your theme night game, and a pre-game ceremony honoring you for coming up with a great idea!
