(Bridgeport, Conn. - August 4, 2011) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (13-6, 45-37) split a doubleheader against the Road Warriors (5-15, 27-56) on Thursday at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Bridgeport won the first game by a score of 6-1. The Road Warriors won game two by a count of 6-4 and ended the Bluefish winning streak at five.

Matt Pike (8-3) tossed his third complete game of the season and his fourth of his career. The righthander allowed one run on five hits while striking out six. Chris Mason gave up one run in five innings for the Road Warriors in his start.

In the first game, the Bluefish scored five times against Saul Rivera (1-2) in the sixth. With the bases loaded, and one batter out, Prentice Redman drove in two runs with a single down the left field line. Luis Rodriguez followed by sending a three-run shot to leftcenter. His fifth homer of the year finished the scoring in game one.

In game two, the Road Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Bridgeport stormed back in the third to score three times. The first Bridgeport hit of the night came from Andres Perez. With the bases loaded, the second baseman sent a bases clearing double to rightcenter to give the Bluefish the lead.

The Road Warriors responded to tie the game in the fourth. A solo shot to left from Kenny Kelly tied the contest.

In the next inning, the road squad scored two more runs to take the lead. Marcos Cabral singled and Amadeo Zazueta doubled to establish runners in scoring position. Luis Nieblas sent a sacrifice fly to deep leftcenter to advance both runners. Vic Gutierrez singled to right to push the fifth runner to the plate. Each team scored one after that point.

Matt Smith (2-6) suffered the loss as the southpaw surrendered five runs in four innings. Jason Norderum started for the Road Warriors in the second game but did not go long enough to factor in the decision. The lefthander tossed three-and-a-third frames and gave up three runs. Roberto Giron (1-0) picked up the victory as the reliever worked two innings and allowed a run. Adam Thomas notched his eleventh save of the season with a scoreless seventh.
